2012-03-15 We're BACK!

Wow! It's been a long time!

Tonight, I was amazed by the new faces at the first class of this new semester. There were more than 20 students in the classroom and the atmosphere was boiling.

Our teacher, Abbie, set a great schedule for us to follow and during the mingling, everyone was trying their best to know each other with those thought-provoking questions written by Abbie.

As usual, I(Jonas) was half an hour late for the class, but THANK GOD I made it. Donald is back and I couldn't be happier and more touched to see him in class. He's my role model and he really is living without stopping learning! Barrett, Zaili, Taiya, Kert, Jerry, Andrea, Tony, Hans and Ammar all returned to the CI family, and no doubt it's always wonderful to see all the family members again. I didn't get the chance to know every new friend tonight, but next week, I'll share our CI blog with all of them.

Here are the interesting questions from Abbie:
(1) Did you join any clubs in high school or do extracurricular activities? Are there any you're still doing or interested in?

(2) If you had to live a year without a computer or a book, which one would you choose? Why?

(3) What was your favorite game when you were a child?

(4) If you had to teach to the world, what would/could you teach?

(5) What do you like best about your hometown?

(6) Would you go for a boring job with lots of money or a job you love but with a very low salary?

(7) What animal would you like to be for 24 hours?

(8) Which family member has had the greatest influence on your current way of thinking?

(9) What is your concept of the BEST vacation?

Teacher, Abbie, divided us into two groups and each person was tagged with the alphabet either A or B. The student who was tagged with A got to ask the questions of the student tagged with B, and every 5-10 minutes, A students changed the seat clockwise to meet different B students. It was a great way full of fun to get to know each other. At first, most of us weren't used to this type of process, but the situation was getting better and better. After 5 minutes of exploring the new way, we could feel the electricity in the class and the lively conversations seemed unstoppable!

In the last section of the class, we discussed the topic for the next class. Teacher Abbie helped us brainstorm the topic "Trash population" and encouraged us to think of the idea from three angles: positives, negatives and questions. We seemed a bit quiet compared to the mingling section probably because people in Taiwan aren't really used to the brainstorming, but we'll be fine sooner or later.

What a great class tonight! Time really flied especially when we were all focused. Thanks again to our teacher, Abbie, who has always devoted herself to teaching and leading us to learn. Can't wait to have the next class!
